Full of what? I don’t know. But for those dejected over the news of a Conservative majority, there was a bright spot which came out of the recent Canadian election: the high number of first time MPs elected to parliament. Many of them are young, some of them very young, and a number of them are atypical of the usual (parliament)bench warmers we are accustomed to.
Why is this good news? Because with youth and a lack of political experience comes a rejection of the Old-Boys Club. With the majority of seat holders being Conservatives, voting in this session of parliament will be mostly meaningless, but I’m hoping all this fresh blood will be able to affect some kind of resistance, or at least be able to mix things up a little.
Young, dumb and full of… alternative ideas? Okay, that sounds pretty good.
